    Young Carers

At Hayes Primary School, we recognise that some of our pupils have caring responsibilities at home. Our Young Carers Club provides a safe, supportive and welcoming space where children can relax, have fun and spend time with others who may understand what it is like to be a young carer.

The club offers opportunities to take part in fun activities, talk and share experiences, build friendships and develop confidence and resilience. Most importantly, it gives our young carers time to be children and enjoy a break from their responsibilities.

We work closely with families and appropriate professionals to make sure our young carers feel listened to, supported and valued both in school and at home.

We meet every 3 weeks and alternate between our very popular lunch club and our natter and nibble sessions. This year we are changing it up a little, and those sessions will involve crafts and team games too.

The young carers team comprises of Mrs Griffin, Miss Boorman and Miss Sparks.

We are very proud to have achieved the bronze award from "Young carers in school" in 2023 and this year we aim to achieve the accreditation again upon its expiration.

If you think your child may be a young carer, please speak to a member of our school team. We are here to listen and help.
